Burgundy – Salvador Dali exhibition in Pommard Castle

sculpture

Today like yesterday, both art and art of living always have been compatible in Burgundy. This will be seen once more this year in Pommard, not far from Beaune, on the Fine Wine Route (Route des Grands Crus) often described as “Burgundy’s Champs-Elysées”.

Pommard Castle, beautiful building of the 18th century in a 49 acres prestigious vineyard, will hold an art exhibition dedicated to Salvador Dali. This year is the 20th anniversary of his death. The castle already owned “Saint Georges killing the dragon” (Saint Georges terrassant le dragon), one of the great Spanish artist’s sculptures, and has just acquired “The Unicorn”, which will be soon put in the Square Courtyard (Cour Carrée).

The exhibition, that will take place until 15th November 2009, is entirely dedicated to the artist’s sculptures as well as a collection of original engravings taken from many art books that Salvador Dali did throughout his life as an artist.
