Everywhere in Corsica, the sea lies nearby mountains, but in southern Corsica, this closeness is almost blatant. Porto-Vecchio, the main town, is renowned for its intense cultural activity, its citadel and its marina. Around the gulf, long pine tree-lined fine sand beaches extend further north to the charming towns of Lecci and Sainte Lucie de Porto-Vecchio.
