This coming Saturday 20th March, Bercy concert hall will give you the opportunity to enjoy Ireland and celebrate a new Saint Patrick’s Night (Nuit de la Saint Patrick).
Every year in mid-March, Celt people meet in pubs, cafes and concert halls worldwide to say goodbye to winter and celebrate Saint Patrick’s day. For a long time, this event has reached beyond Ireland’s boundaries, its country of origin.
The programme of the Saint Patrick’s Night include : more than 100 musicians and dancers, a 5-hour show, among which 3 hours will be dedicated to concerts, and to finish there will be a massive Fest Noz (a traditional music and dance festival similar to a Ceilidh) starting at 11.30 pm and ending at 1 am.
This year, the 2010 Saint Patrick’s Night will be also the opening of the 40th Celtic Cultures Festival ( Festival Interceltique), which will be held in Lorient from August 6 to 15, 2010. For this occasion, unique artists coming from Ireland, Asturias (Spain) and Brittany (France) will perform on stage. Among the invited artists, you will have the opportunity to see:
- Lúnasa, a leading band of Irish instrumental music accompanied with Irish dancers
- the Bagad de Lokoal-Mendon, a bagpipe band, which for many years has been a major band in traditional Breton music
- Hevia, a virtuoso from Gaïta in Asturias and his band playing for the first time in Bercy concert hall
- Soldat Louis, from Lorient, will play “rock festif” music and take you to the heart of Brittany
