Paris Christmas lights have had a makeover during the last six years with this artistic initiative for the city’s streets. During the Christmas season, a trail of light creations illuminates over 18 districts, that is more than a hundred streets and squares in the capital.
From rue du Poteau to avenue de la Porte-Montmartre, or boulevard Saint-Germain, through rue de Rivoli, the Viaduc des Arts, the Grands Boulevards or the Village Saint-Paul in the Marais, the names given to Christmas lights unfold the poetry of the project: “the Milky Way”, “rivers of lights”, “crystal rain”, etc. Some kind of dialog establishes then with the historical areas of the Madeleine, the avenue Montaigne and the Champs-Élysées decked out in their traditional splendour.
The Christmas celebrations are also an opportunity to discover the Concorde Wheel. Located on the Place de la Concorde, at the far end of the Champs-Elysées, the illuminated silhouette of the big wheel stands out in the dark sky. A ride reveals all the illuminations across the city.
