Once a month, on Wednesday afternoon, for the Mercredis d’Art (litterally Art Wednesdays), children are invited to discover contemporary art, the local heritage of Annecy, the traditional furniture of the Alps, the Musée-Château’s art collections or temporary exhibitions.

The afternoon will be dedicated to discovering almost the whole castle and museum: its history, its architecture, its wings and the way space is organised inside the Castle.

CITIA Exposition, in Annecy, is the first exhibition area dedicated to the history, art and techniques of the moving image. Until December 31, German creativity will be the guest of honour of Annecy’s International Festival of Animated Film. Throughout original documents of the Castle-Museum’s collection (Musée-Château) and thanks to the pieces that filmmakers and studios will lend for the occasion, Citia Exposition puts the focus Germany’s abundant and talented production, which has been divided for a long time between East and West, and thus presents a renowned country in the animated film sector.

The town of Annecy has the pleasure to present the “Avec Vue Sur Lac” exhibition. The region’s main lakes are the themes of this exhibition, which will be held at the Castle Museum until October 18, 2009 and the Palais de l’Ile until October 28, 2009.

At the Castle Museum: “the representation of alpine lakes“

The « Avec Vue Sur Lac » exhibition not only shows the aesthetic point of view we have on lakes but it also traces the “invention” of the lake landscape and the progressive development of tourist and commercial images. The art pieces have been brought together and compared to common practice in contemporary lake marketing.

At the Palais de l’Ile “architecture and landscape“

Through a selection of villas and buildings with a focus on four alpine lakes, i.e. the lakes of Annecy, Côme, Bourget and Lake Geneva, you will discover a history of points of view and views of the lake from architecture. You will discover the purpose of window in the implementation of the traditional perspective device of architecture and how it became mainly used in the banks of Lake Geneva with the horizontal or ribbon window used by Le Corbusier in Corseaux in 1923.
