Aquitaine – The Bay of Arcachon’s Treasures, between sea and sand dunes

Located in the Landes de Gascogne area, in the Gironde region, in front of the Atlantic ocean, the bay of Arcachon has amazingly beautiful landscapes to offer. Of a triangular shape, the bay is more than 80km long with fine sand beaches and dunes. The highest point is called Dune du Pyla (104m). On top of it you will enjoy a nice view of the lagoon-coloured sea as well as the Landes forest.

The change of scenery carries on in the bay of Arcachon with a small island located right in the middle of it: Bird Island (l’Île aux Oiseaux). [ Read more ]

Ferias of Southern France

Originally coming from Spain, ferias area deeply rooted tradition in some town of southern France. The most famous ones are the ferias from Bayonne, Dax, Mont-de-Marsan and also Nîmes.

The town of Bayonne would not be the same without its famous August celebrations. They start the first Wednesday evening of August at 10pm. From then on until the following Sunday, for five entire days the whole town wears white clothes with a red scarf and falls into joy and happiness. [ Read more ]
