Located east of the mouth of river Couesnon, Mont Saint-Michel is a granite rocky island on which was built, from 709, a sanctuary dedicated to archangel Saint Michel. « Wonder of the ocean », the Mont-Saint-Michel stands at the heart of a wide bay, which is the scene of the greatest tidal ranges in Europe.
