The association “Meeting the French” offers international visitors the opportunity to meet Parisians by organising meals in their own houses. Hosts may welcome a single person, a couple or a family for dinner or lunch. This is an opportunity to get to know each other and learn more about each other’s culture. At the Café-Info, Parisians full of enthusiasm for their city give a warm welcome to visitors looking for relevant suggestions and information. These local people accompany small groups in their neighbourhood to give them valuable insights, tips and their favourite addresses. The people volunteering for the “Paris Greeter” organisation help tourists discover the genuine Paris of the Parisians, while passing on their enthusiasm and passion of the capital.

Thanks to the city’s bicycle taxis, you can now visit Paris while breathing fresh air and without getting tired ! Four companies offer this new useful, fast and eco-friendly mean of transport. You can hail one in the street, and jump aboard. These modern electric-assisted tricycles are chauffeur driven and serve the districts of Bastille, Louvre, Concorde, Saint-Michel and Notre-Dame.

In July, for a fourth year, Paris City Council organises a huge treasure hunt throughout five areas (3rd, 6th, 13th, 18th and 19th arrondissement). It enables Parisians and many visitors of the capital to get together and discover the city in a different light, bringing them in touch with local retailers, crafts people and local neighbourhood associations.

The aim is to solve the riddle either alone or in a team thanks to clues that can be found in unusual places. The quest rounds off with a convivial get-together and entertaining activities as well as the prizegiving. Two agencies also organise private treasure hunts in the capital for groups.
